Parents Say...

"We have been bringing our children to Nadia's daycare for over 5 years. First our older son started when he was 14 months old, and we didn't even consider another daycare when our second son came along. Nadia and her staff are incredibly loving, patient and positive with our children. She has helped us work through so many behavioral issues with both our parents, and she and her staff have always been willing to discuss ideas to help us at home. We know when our children are at Play and Learn Family Daycare, our children are safe and having fun! We wouldn't bring them anywhere else."

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the hours of operation?

Play & Learn Family Daycare is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 6 pm.  Full-time daycare is 8 hours per day, and part-time daycare is 4 or less hours per day. We also provide weekend daycare.

What about food?

Please send your child to daycare with a pre-made lunch and beverage. Please remember that children do better when they have nutritious food to choose from. Some examples for lunch include:

  • Sandwiches: peanut butter & jelly, cheese, tuna egg salad or cream cheese

  • Salads: pasta, vegetables

  • Fruit: grapes, apple, banana

  • Other: yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese & crackers, macaroni & cheese, fish sticks

Morning and afternoon snacks and beverages will be provided. Breakfast is not served, so be certain your child has eaten before arriving. Parents are encouraged to limit items that are salty and sweet. Please do not send gum, candy or soda.

What about care in emergencies, after hours or weekends?

Extended daycare (more than 8 hours per day) is available for an additional charge. You can request Extended Daycare on a case-by-case basis, or you can sign up for it on a monthly basis.

What about potty training?

We care for children still in diapers.  When a child shows an interest in using the toilet, we will tell you and help your child with the process.  We find that every child progresses on his or her own schedule so we don’t have rigid rules about when this should happen.

What if my family speaks a language other than English at home?

Research indicates that who hear more than one language have a big advantage in learning languages.  Our staff is fluent in languages other than English so they understand how to communicate with children who are not native English speakers.

What is your policy on sick children?

If you cannot take care of your child at home, we ask that you bring the child to the TLC program (sick child daycare) at Torrance Memorial Medical Center.  This program is state licensed and open every day, 24 hours a day.  The pediatric nursing staff of the hospital supervises the program.
